Located in Jordan and dates back to 300 BC, Petra, also known as the “Lost City”, was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Petra is made up around 800 massive tombs and temples and is known for its elaborate stone cut architecture card into rock surrounded by mountains and passages.
Petra is also known for its water conduit system that could support up to 30,000 citizens. In the movies, Petra was the location of Indiana Jones & the Last Crusade which brought a lot of awareness to this historical site.
The Siq
The Siq is the ancient main entrance to the City of Petra, a split rock. Most is natural and other parts were sculpted by the Nabataeans.
Camel Rides
This is the most traditional way of discovering the desert and it feels like you’re being transported back in time. Several routes are available for rides of different lengths.
The Dead Sea
This shore is the lowest point on Earth in terms of dry land. It lies 1378 ft beneath sea level. The water is extremely saline with 34.2% salinity, 9.6x as salty as the ocean.
