Located in the Yucatan Peninsula, Mexico, Chichen Itza is made up of Mayan ruins which thrived from 600 AD to the 1200s. It was one of the largest cities in the Mayan world covering 2 square miles of compact commercial, residential & other structures made of stone. One of the structures is a massive step pyramid, known as El Castillo or The Temple of Kukulcan which dominates the city. It also has an echo design to sound like a bird call. It was once the center of political and economic activity and currently brings in about 2 million tourists per year.

Ik Kil Cenote

In Yucatan, Mexico, this Cenote is a regular swimming hole. Ik Kil is 85 feet below ground level with a carved stairway leading to the water. You can find small waterfalls, vines and black catfish. This is a sacred site to the Mayans for both relaxation and rituals, including human sacrifice to their rain god, Chaac.

Ruins of Tulum

Made in the 13th century, this walled Mayan archaeological site, overlooks the sea and incorporates the cliff-top Castillo, built as a watchtower, Templo de las Pinturas, with a partially restored mural. Inland has pyramid-shaped temples viewing the jungle.
